1. Introduction to data mining

• The workflow of a data science project, from preparation and exploration to modelling and interpretation
• Typical tasks such as classification, regression and clustering
• Supervised and unsupervised learning
• Training and test data, validation and measures for evaluating models
• Data quality and methodological issues, including missing values, outliers and temporal consistency

2. Relational databases

• Database systems and the conceptual, logical and physical stages of design
• Modelling entities, attributes, relationships, cardinalities and hierarchies
• Translating conceptual models into relational schemas with keys and integrity constraints
• Redundancy, update anomalies and normalization through first, second and third normal form
• A practical case study on cycling races, from requirements to a relational database
• Creating and exploring a SQLite database with DBeaver
• SQL for defining tables and constraints, then inserting, updating and deleting data
• Queries with selection, filtering, ordering, aggregation, grouping and joins
• Exporting results to CSV or Excel for further analysis and reporting
